The Nasty Party?
It's often said that there are no right wing comedians. This may or may not be true. But even if it is, it's not immediately obvious that lefties have an appreciation of irony.
They are gathered in my hometown this week in full on self righteous indignation about the presence of Tories. Placards about Theresa May who has been in office for only a few weeks are already comparing her to the hated Margaret Thatcher. Why? Because she is a Tory. No other reason is required apparently. Others are holding up placards about the nasty party.
And have you noticed that lefties are in the process of doing what they did to Mrs T too and denying her any female credentials. Mrs T was always depicted as a bloke in drag. They are starting to do the same with Mrs May. It's only a matter of time before they point out that she is childless and imply that this proves something. The cartoonists are still deciding how to depict her, but I can see which way it is going.
Oh and last week, at the Labour conference, women there were telling anyone who would listen that Theresa cannot be a feminist because she is a Tory. The party that has had two more female leaders than Labour and two more female prime ministers could probably teach the party of the pink bus a thing or two about that. Which is the nasty party again?
